Last week we were talking about how accessories actually make or break your look. But today we will focus on footwear, as the growing importance of shoes sometimes even more than the outfit.
What is the most important feature you look for while buying a shoe? Comfort, style, colour …the right answer is fit again.e.g. some shoes (especially pointy or rounded toes) actually cut above and you have toe cleavage that is a bad fit.
Lets look at the most important feauture of shoe .i.e. the heels so we will focus on the heels and what they go with :
1. Flats : there are whether in shoes or sandals they are casual wear. Whether you wear closed or open or even gladiators they all are casuals. Flats make one look fun and flirty whether it is with skirts, dresses or even salwars.
2. Wedges : they are flat from front and higher at the back but the same heel. It elevates your heel a bit. They are mostly in sandals and peeptoes or even boots. They are considered business casuals and look good on crop pants , skirts, churidars and sarees.
Newsflash : heels are considered formal and necessary for professional wear as per all corporate standards.
3.Block heels : they are flat in the front and have a block heel starting from 0.5 inches. They are in shoes, sandals or boots. They look good on most outfits.
4.Kitten heels : these are very short stilleto or pencil heels. They are not more than 1 or 1.5 inches and are great options for tall women . They are formal and look good as well.
5. Pencil heels : mostly found in sandals, shoes, peeptoes and even boots. They are flat or slightly elevated in the front but much higher from the back and as the name suggests the heels are extremely thin and pointy. They are mostly formal wear. Heels not more than 3.5 inches are professional wear above that is partywear. They look good with most outfits and always make one look more proportionate.
6. Platforms: similiar to pencil heels but more elevated in the front and very high above 4 inches. They are shoes, sandals, peeptoes or boots. Only formal evening wear or great for a night on town. One should have the cofidence to carry them. They look great with dresses, skirts and churidars. But they are not the classiest heel options around.
7.Sneakers: also known as Keds or sport shoes. They have a lot of variety now . They look good on active wear or work out clothes. People do tend to wear them on jeans but Ankle length or bulky sneakers are never the right option. You can wear street Keds, loafer style or even canvas shoes with jeans to run errands.
Shoes come in all shapes, sizes and colours. The reason women love them as your size doesn’t change even if your weight fluctuates. Different outfits and occassions call for a different shoe. In my opinion if you have atleast one of each heel styled mentioned you are doing fine but my list of shoes never decreases. Heels I find are the most versatile and always create an illusion of a taller thinner you.
It is always said that you are judged by your shoe but their neatness, polish and look. Shoes can make or break an outfit and your style, gone are the days when any shoe worked. I personally hate the matchy matchy style, so it should compliment your outfit or match your belt or bag and colour blocking is an innovative look but please do not pair lime green with neon pink. You will just be an eyesore.
